Sprawling across a huge area of 2.31 hectares is the famous teak plantation of Kerala also known as Conolly's Plot. Created between the years 1842 and 1844, it is renowned as the world's first teak plantation.

The hanging or suspension bridge constructed in 2009 as part of the eco-tourism project across the Chaliyar River connects Conolly’s teak plantation with the mainland, Nilambur. It is regarded as the longest hanging bridge in Kerala spanning 143 feet
